Our President Is Not A King
A few weeks ago President Trump issued a statement about the end of congestion pricing in New York City that ended with the phrase, “Long live the king.” Many thought is was clever and funny but some of us find it concerning since the United States does not have a monarchy. Yes it was just a phrase but is that how some people really consider President Trump, a “King?”
This happened a few years ago with the selection of Barack Obama as President. The media fawned all over every word he said and every move he made. As usual the gullible followers went along with all the hype. Obama being a narcissist went along with it and enjoyed all the praise. At one point he was even called King Obama, and the media gushed along with all of his sheep. This can lead to a dictatorship type attitude for the person in power. That actually happened with Obama years ago because he pushed to radically change the country and because people thought of him as a king/dictator they went along with it.
Many in this country do not really know that the United States of America is a Republic. It is not a democracy, monarchy or dictatorship. Anyone that calls the USA a democracy has no interest in the hard working people of this country. In a Republic people have power through their elected representatives, in a democracy power is through majority rules, in a monarchy royalty rules and in dictatorship one person controls and rules.
So the way some acted under Obama and the way many are acting with Trump it seems that many want this country to become a monarchy or dictatorship. After Trump won the November 2024 election some on the so-called conservative side hoped that he would “Suspend” the Constitution so he could rule and make this country great again without having to deal with any opposition. Talk about complete stupidity. If the other side said or tried to push that nonsense the so-called conservative would have come unglued. It just shows the hypocrisy of people because all is fine as long as your side is in control and has power. If Trump “Suspended” the Constitution do people really think it would be put back in place? Would we still have a President or would he now be a monarch or dictator. Even if Trump “Reinstated” the Constitution what if the next President “Suspended” it again? If the other side got back into power and did the same this country would be destroyed. Once the genie is out of the bottle it is hard to put it back. So people need to be careful for what they wish for because it will probably lead you to disaster you down the road.
Another problem is all the ego and arrogance that is on display today. It does seem that President Trump has the ego and arrogance of a king. He praises himself and everything he does. He praises all that kiss up to him or his ring as being, “Great.” Once again he praises the powerful, rich, famous and well connected. I wish he would praise the hard working US citizen as much as he praises the oligarchs that are cozying up to him. This is a dangerous path that is being followed because all those powerful, rich, famous and well connected people are only concerned about their self interests and money. The hard working US citizen means nothing to them except being a means so they can keep their power, money and gain more of both.
I never understood the fascination in this country for royalty. Didn’t we fight a war 249 years ago to break away from the monarchy? Back in the 1960’s when John F. Kennedy was President the press labeled his Presidency as “Camelot.” The magazine, newspapers, radio and television went wild with the “Camelot” label and with that they tried to turn his family into royalty. Complete nonsense but the public fell for it, praised it and repeated it.
I do not like or trust all the “Kissing of the Ring” that is happening now. We selected a President not a king and this is a huge concern for the hard working US citizen. Sadly what is happening today is nothing new. Liberal/Progressives/Socialists/Communists had their king, Barack Obama. Conservatives, now have their king, Donald Trump. The United States of America is not a monarchy or dictatorship. Neither side cares as long as their side is in power and has control.
