Why Is It America Instead Of USA?
We are the United States of America. For too long people have always referred the USA as America and it is true if you consider the USA the most powerful country of the continent of North America. Factually America consists of North, Central and South America and all the countries in those continents.
Made in America is a play on words and it is just a marketing trick and it was used years ago and is still being used today. American can be from Canada down to Argentina. When companies boasted “Made In America” it could be produced in any country in North, Central and South America. The automobile industry was good at this marketing trick, engines from Brazil, parts assemblies from Canada and Mexico. All made in “America” and it tricked the consumer. When people realized this ruse then they used the phrase, “Assembled in USA from global parts.”
Technology companies are some of the worst when they try to address USA products and services. They use the phrases, “Designed in USA, Manufactured in China.” A simple dodge to make it look like they are supporting the US worker. As far as I am concerned the product is made in China and that Chinese manufacturing employs thousands of people in China. Being designed in the USA probably only consists of a handful of jobs for the US citizen. In other technology areas such as so-called conservative social media it is using servers in Canada. This social media constantly pushes “Make America Great Again” so how is using servers in Canada making the USA great?
Today there is talk of buying Greenland and turning Canada into the fifty-first state. Some say it is for national security and others say it is for a strategic advantage. To me it is all nonsense. With all the problems that the USA is experiencing today we need to take care of the US citizen first before we talk about buying Greenland or taking over Canada. The USA has just dodged disaster with the November 2024 election. We need to make our country, the United Sates of America, stronger before we can talk about helping any other country.
One area I do believe that the USA should regain is the Panama Canal zone. The Panama Canal should never have been given away. From its beginning the Panama Canal was strategic to the welfare and security of the USA. Jimmy Carter made a huge mistake when he gave the canal to Panama. This is another stain on the Carter Presidency. He was not interested in keeping the USA Great. Ronald Reagan could have revoked the transfer of the Panama Canal but he did nothing to correct it. It was all politics for his Administration and he did not want to rock the boat. So that failure to act caused the problems of today where a foreign adversary has taken control of the Panama Canal. President Trump is correct in flexing the muscle of the USA to correct the mistakes of Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.
Immigrants in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s called the USA “America” because it was easier to say “America” than the “United States of America. The USA will always be known as “America” but unfortunately corporations and other entities will use this disguise to mislead the US citizen. We need to say, “Let’s Make the USA Great Again.” I know it is not a catchy phrase or acronym but we need to take care of the USA First before we do anything to help other countries and causes.
The United States of America was and still is the greatest country in the world. Over many decades and especially in the last four years we have lost our way because of nonsense and stupidity. Too many politicians put their own self interests before the needs of the United States and its citizens. Hopefully that is changing today with the new Administration. The USA is taking some good steps forward and unfortunately a few steps backward in the quest to make the country “Great Again.” That is why we should never let up on holding our politicians and elected officials accountable on their promises and actions. All of our lives depend on what they do and we should never blindly trust anything they say or the actions they take. If we do it is at our own peril.
